  1. The one piece of information that I will take with me was Michelangelo's experience of painting the Sistine Chapel. Specifically I will remember who must he really hated working on the project in the beginning and fought so hard to continue his work on the tomb of Pope Julius. However, towards the end of the project he was obsessed even if he hated to admit it and couldn't help but want to finish the chapel.

    1. Crystal,
Michelangelo's dedication/obsession when painting the Sistine Chapel was also a factoid I will not forget. The overall scope of the amount of work he needed to complete was overwhelming in itself, not to mention having to create images that would live up to everyone's expectations of what these Bible figures would look like. It's really unbelievable! I can't wait to see it in person.

    2. Hi Crystal,
I was torn between Michelangelo and Leonardo, but I decided to chose Michelangelo. I’m glad you and I will remember Michelangelo and his amazing work.

  2. This was harder than I thought it was going to be. After thinking about all the really interesting things in this course, I would have to say the fact that Leonardo may have had slow-motion vision. It will definitely be the one factoid I will repeat to others, along with many other cool things we have learned.
    Thank you Professor.

    1. Katherine,

Yes! This definitely stuck with me also. I mentioned in one of my response that studying people who have some sort of synesthesia is fascinating! It also would help explain how we was able to study so many diverse topics and have such complex and intricate understanding of all of these things.

    2. Katherine,
That is a very interesting factoid! I think that talents of Leonardo impressed the majority of students in this course. I liked that theory about slow motion as well. It fits the fact well.

  3. If I have to pick one thing, that would be the beginning of Christianity. The clash of the two paradigms and the history of it made me think a lot. It's a heavy, but interesting topic, that I did not know much about before the course. I will definitely remember it.

  4. I can’t get the faces out of my head of the actors in The Decameron. Learning about the movement of neorealism where they used real people from the streets in their films was super effective in capturing the essence of Italian life.

  5. The most unforgettable information I learn from this course is Leonardo. In one of the film assigned, it describes Leonardo as first modern mind. He has talent in every area, art, science, and so on. He invent tank model 400 years ago before the tank was really created. What a genius!

  9. The one piece of information I will remember about this course is the life of a farmer in Italy. Being that my family comes from a similar background, I find it pleasing to know that their stories told. Many times because they are the working poor, they are often forgotten and their stories go untold.
